Summary: NOT for iPhone 3G
Comment: This is a very nice case as previously reviewed. However, it completely blocks both the proximity and ambient light sensors to the left of the earpiece in the newly redesigned iPhone 3G. This causes a few serious problems, such as the screen going blank and staying blank during calls. I would definitely not recommend it for the new iPhone 3G.
To give a little more detail, there are three small sensors to the left of the earpiece, a slight modification to the original iPhone design. The two small proximity sensors are what turn off the screen when you put the iPhone to your ear during a call, and they likewise turn off the touch pad to avoid accidental button presses while the phone is at your ear. The ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the back-light to make the screen visible in your surroundings. The effect of using the phone in the case is that these three sensors are completely blocked. Thus, as soon as you place a call, the screen goes black and the on-screen buttons no longer appear or function (the phone thinks it's at your ear). The screen does not reappear even after the call unless you take the phone out of its case for a moment and unblock the sensor. In addition, the screen does not increase brightness outdoors as it is supposed to because (according to the sensor which is blocked), it's completely dark where you are. I should also mention that there is no opening in the back for the camera, so the iPhone must be removed to take a picture. But many other leather cases don't have a hole in the back for the camera either.
In conclusion, this is a fine, well-made case which appears ideal for the original iPhone (except an opening for the camera would have been nice). But it is not appropriate for the new 3G, and this is probably the reason for the rather low price.

Summary: simple, functional, just what I wanted
Comment: My Iphone 3g fits perfectly. The case looks like a wallet and even had some slots like a wallet that can hold credit cards and a few dollars. It is all one solid black color, with the natural look and feel of leather, niceand soft to the touch. I shopped forever for a case for my new IPhone, and this is just right. Highly recommend it, and it's less than $5!!! Other cases look cheap but cost as much as $30.
