Garnering comparisons to everyone from Modest Mouse and The Arcade Fire to the Clash and U2, The Airborne Toxic Event's debut album is one of the most anticipated releases of the the year. With songs that feature unforgettable hooks, their now legendary live shows have been converting fans from coast to coast. The Airborne Toxic Event is the band s debut album and was co-produced by Pete Min (Longwave, Ivy). Features 'Sometime Around Midnight' and 'Gasoline'. On tour this fall.

Summary: Great Music... Not a great recording though
Comment: As others have stated, this is a very good CD from beginning to end. If you are a fan of the song "Sometime Around Midnight", you'll enjoy other tracks as well. For me, I was instantly drawn into "Sometime Around Midnight" the first time I heard it on the radio... I loved the lead singer's voice and the fact there is no chorus. Many of the other songs highlight both of these characteristics as well. Two of my favorites include "Wishing Well" and "Missy"

The only downside (and this is a big one for me)... is the horrible sound quality. From the opening track about 38 seconds in I knew the sound quality was going to disappoint. Too bad... it's some great tunage.

Comment: I also heard Airborne Toxic Event's "Sometime Around Midnight" on XM and started looking more into the band on youtube. After hearing a couple of their songs, I ordered their CD on amazon. I am sooo glad I did! Normally you buy a CD and you like one or two songs, but this CD is different. Every song is great. The lyrics are brilliant. They sound similar to the Killers. The way they incorporate the violen into some of their music is genious. I love that there is a new band out there to get excited about that sounds similar to the music I like, but with their own unique style that seperates them from the rest. I don't have enough good things to say about this group. Love it!!!

Summary: The More I Listen To This, The More I like It...
Comment: I agree with the reviews above. I saw them open for the Fratellis last week, and I bought their CD there. They were really cool people too.

Summary: Unabashed Rock and F***ing Roll
Comment: Ignore any of the reviews that may paint this brilliant album as a ripoff of other amazing rock bands such as Arcade Fire or Bruce Springsteen (of which this album contains elements of each).

Excuse Airborne for putting some genuine heart into the music, lacing the guitars with venom when need be, and blasting the drums to the beat of heartful poetry. That is what good rock SHOULD BE.

So if you take the album for what it is and ignore any preconceived notions, you'll enjoy a thick, unrefined hour of melodies that make you want to jump up and shout or tap your feet uncontrollably, however you're inclined.

Summary: Getting the cd as soon as I type this...
Comment: About a week-and-a-half ago, after flipping the radio dial while out running errands, totally unsatisfied with all the junk blowing out of the speakers, I finally just let it rest on the local independent station (which plays IT's fair share of junk). You know how it is when you're only half-listening... but this song, the words hit me hard. As soon as I got home I called the station because, as usual, the name of the song wasn't announced. After letting the phone ring for a solid 20 minutes, with no one answering, I reluctantly gave up, hoping I'd catch it again eventually. Since then, the memory of that song has been floating in my brain, causing me to keep switching to that station. Finally, 40 minutes ago in the parking lot at Target it happened. I froze and whispered to myself "that song" and I stopped and listened carefully. By the time he got to the part about the memory of their bodies entwined I was crying like a baby. Everything I'd planned to do I dropped to race home and call the station, while three more songs by various artists played. Everyone was driving slower than I've ever seen drivers drive and I kept with the foot on the gas. As I pulled in front of the house the dj said she was done for the night which had me dropping things in a panic as I raced into the house, frantically searching online for the studio number to the radio station. I called (again) and, after about an 8 minute wait, while the phone rang, I wrote down everything I could remember about That Song, thinking nobody would answer and I would need the information to describe it to the dj later. Then somebody picked up. I quickly asked if Rachel (the dj who played the song) was still there and he said he'd try and catch her but then he asked what it was about and I told him. I said I needed to know the song that was played before Love and Rockets "So Alive." He said the band was THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT and the song was "Sometime Around Midnight." The only song that's ever made me cry like a baby in a Target parking lot. I think it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard and I'm buying the cd as soon as I finish this.

Just had to get that out.
