The pads are enclosed in a heavy sock-like material which breathes very well. They slip on with little effort and are taken off with a bit more effort; I don't like equipment that feels like you will break or tear it by pulling too hard trying to take it off- no worries with this product. The pads are nice and thick without being too thick. There is plenty padding to keep from breaking your shins, but not so much that you have no feedback. For a point of reference: I do not spar with these- I use them for bag work (Heavy bag- 100 lbs). Would I feel confident using these in sparring? Absolutely (I am just not sparring right now). I am picky enough about my equipment that I don't give 5 stars lightly - I honestly could find no fault with these. More Reviews
