Summary: nothing but trouble
Comment: After my recent experience with the HP 7590 All-in-One printer, I am not only replacing it with a different printer, but with a different brand. The short version of my printer woes is that I purchased the printer in August - and three months and three replacements later, I'm packing it up and returning it to Staples (who, unlike HP customer service, will just let me return it and replace it with a new printer). The series of printers/replacements worked for a total of 16 days - printed about 50 pages, and required a full set of replacement ink just to complete trouble shooting.
The long version is: The original quit working after two weeks (of limited home/business use). I went through 3 hours of online troubleshooting before the technician gave up and said they would send me a replacement. The replacement arrived - it was a refurbished printer, and I had to dismantle the original (remove ink cartridges, printheads, duplexer, front panel) and reconstruct the replacement - plus box up the original computer and take it to a FedEx location for return shipment. The 1st replacement lasted two days - and then gave me a new and different error message. So I repeated the process - 3 hours of tech support, followed by an offer of replacement, arrival of refurbished printer (take apart/reassemble/box and return/). The second replacement gave me a third set of error messages right from the start. I attempted to circumvent the online tech support, but found no other way to contact HP (I tried phone support, but was routed and re-routed through an infinite loop, and gave up after 45 minutes). When I initiated the online chat with tech support, I started off with the whole sad story of my printers, and how I really didn't want to go through another 3 hour process - I just wanted to send this one back and get a refund. Of course, that wasn't possible. Not only that, but the printer was now giving an error message that ink was low (between the 3 printers I had printed less than 50 actual pages, plus all the trouble shooting pages). The tech insisted that I change ink cartridges - at which I balked, knowing that it wouldn't fix the printer. However, at his insistence I put in $70 worth of replacement ink. The original error message appeared and he said something like, "Oh - so now we can send you a replacement printer." He reassured me repeatedly that "next printer will be perfect" but I badgered him into sending my case to a "higher power."
After about 10 days I got a letter and an e-mail from HP saying that the case manager had attempted to contact me, but had been unable to reach me. He had not called during the times I gave HP as convenient for me ( a three day period during which I stayed by the phone) - and he had not left a phone message. I replied to the e-mail with no response. I didn't reply to the phone message for more than a week, since my experience is that it takes about half a day of availability to deal with HP. The case had been closed because of my failure to respond!
Moral of the story: Avoid buying HP products in general, and the Officejet Pro 7590 in particular!

Summary: HP Software Install Nightmare
Comment: I attempted to install the software both from the accompanying disk & from the HP website, but was unsuccessful. Later, I attempted a second install from the software from the HP website, but failed again. Three separate HP tech support folks attempted to install it also - both from the web and from the disc. Not only did they all fail, but it seemed as if they kept no record of what the previous tech rep had attempted to do to fix the problem. Calls to customer service were tedious and time consuming. All told, I've spent about 10 hours with this problem and still don't have the printer working. In particular, after all this frustration, a call to customer service was greeted with attitude and abruptness. The rep simply didn't understand that I was struggling with a software install issue and not (I think) a bad unit. I'm on the verge of returning the unit and never buying another HP product again.

Summary: Great Printer
Comment: Bought this to replace my scanner and printer. Works well, makes great double sided document prints (saves paper). It is a network device so all my computers can/do use it for scanning and printing and no one computer has to be on for it to work.

Summary: PLEASE READ THIS FIRST PLEASE
Comment: Better CHECK OUT all the forums before you spend money on this printer. The software works only in a SMALL PERCENT of Vista installations, and HP ignores it. Google: No HP Devices have been detected OR HP Solution Centre will close now OR Printer Software Installation Stalls or Stops OR No Scan Options Refer to device documentations. Press OK' It will lead you down a path of sapping your time while HP sells more and more. You may think it will be just fine on you computer, because if it works on any it must work. NOT TRUE. IT ONLY WORKS IN CERTAIN CASES, NONE OF WHICH ARE NORMAL. The machine is fine, good even. THE SOFTWARE IS NOT NOT. SO IF YOU INTEND TO USE IT WITH YOUR COMPUTER, WELCOME TO THE CROWD OF PEOPLE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE WHAT THEY SOLD US WORK.

Summary: Horrible software installation
Comment: Horrible software. The software that came with the printer did not work. Nor did the software from their website. I managed to get this printer working from the plug and play on Microsoft XP, I only directed the program to the included HP CD for the drivers to get it working.

In order to use the scanner, I use a the Photoshop Starter Edition to obtain scanning images from the scanner.
