Customer Rating: Summary: Good snack choice Comment: These are a tasty snack when you're on the go. They feel a little bit decadent, like a cookie. Customer Rating: Summary: Will not melt in your travel bag! Comment: After we received the bars, my wife and I had fun trying to identify the many different tastes. The bars are drier than the average chocolate bar, but the natural moistness of the fruits helps to keep the moistness in and the calories down. The 140 calories isn't bad when you consider that diet cookies are 100 calories.
Then along came along the terrible Hurricane Gustav. While gathering up supplies, I threw the bars into a leather case for maps, flashlights etc. This went into the back of our covered pickup. On the way to our destination, I bought two chocolate bars to eat along the way, but just carrying those to the truck melted them to the point that they were not to be messed with while driving.
While unpacking and starved for a tasty treat, I grabbed one of the Soyjoy bars and enjoyed the taste with no mess. This was after riding in back of the truck all day.
Back to work and I enjoyed the energy boost while on a break from work.
These bars are not your average chocolate treat, but they seem to be good energy bars that don't care where you keep them until you're ready to take a break.
Customer Rating: Summary: Dry, powdery, and artificial-tasting Comment: There is a bizarre paradox about many foods aimed at the health-conscious crowd. They like to advertise about the use of healthy, natural ingredients, but the foods wind up tasting processed, artificial, and, well, much worse than fresh foods. This is a classic example. The taste is bland, with just the slightest hint of a fruity tang, but no actual fruit taste. The worst part about this bar is the texture, though, which is somewhere between energy bar and chalk.
Yes, soy is healthy, but if you want a soy snack, try edamame. If you want something more portable, just eat granola. These things are basically edible drywall. Customer Rating: Summary: Yuk But Good For You! Comment: I really wanted to try this soybar because I want to be a more healthy person. I was excited when I got them in the mail and couldn't wait until tried one. I ripped open a wrapper and took a bite. I chewed it 3 times and spit it out! Yuk!!!
I didn't want them to go to waste and I wanted to get a second opinion, so, I gave them to a friend who is a real health nut. She read the ingredients thoroughly and tasted one and she thought they tasted just fine COMPARED TO OTHER BARS. She said that the ingredients were perfect and she got a great healthful effect from the bar.
So, I guess if your a very healthy person, you'd probably really like these. For the rest of us...be warned. Customer Rating: Summary: Enjoyable but has eggs (for vegans) Comment: The consistency and taste were quite good by comparison to other soy or health bars. Portions are adequate for a bar. Overall, spouse and I both enjoyed this bar.
