Customer Rating: Summary: LOVE IT!!! Comment: I have terrible allergies and sinuses. I have received allergy shots for 5 years and have been on allergy meds since I was child (I'm 34 now). I learned about this product from watching Dr. Oz on Oprah. I absolutely LOVE this product. Within a week of using it I noticed a difference. It did take a couple times to get used to the feeling of the water going through your sinuses but it didn't hurt. My advice would be to use half a pot for each nostril to start until you get used to it. I add a little less salt too to refrain from it burning. I strongly suggest this product if you are an allergy/sinus sufferer. I have made it through hayfever season w/o going on any antibiotics (thus far).
Customer Rating: Summary: Does What It's Supposed To, Not Very Comfortable Comment: Well, the Neti Pot does what is it supposed to, i.e., clears out your nasal passages. However, the process can be uncomfortable and even burns. Many Neti Pot users get used to this, or add more salt to the solution. However, I have found no way of adapting to it, but will continue to use it when needed, well, because it does work!
Customer Rating: Summary: Himalayan Institute Original Neti Pot Complete Sinus Cleansing System Starter Kit Comment: I recommended the starter kit to a friend with severe allergies. She appreciated my feedback, made the purchase through Amazon and is very pleased with the product and the price. It's an affordable investment that provides excellent healing benefits for people with nasal allergies.
Customer Rating: Summary: Use of Neti Pot Comment: I am sure the product treats what it is made for. However, I wish I knew better how to use it to the full effect. It took me a few days to use it correctly and I am still not good at it. I am just afraid the salt water might get into my brain or lungs although I know the chance is quite slim; I guess that is what the after use exercises are for. I am able to clear the excess mucus after use so I can feel the nose block subsides. I need to use it on both nostrils so for the moment I have not felt that the sinus headaches have gone away. I have been using it for 5 days.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Comment: Two things I've found out - this works, and a lot more people have Neti pots than you'd think. My sinuses are awful. They go off for any reason: pollution, cat hair, bad vibes. You just get into the rhythm of using this and before you know it you can actually SMELL again. It's uncomfortable to use at first. Not the stuffing the ceramic thing up your nose - that's a sure reminder of early childhood. Probably a great way to work out your issues, if you have them. Anyway, it's the 'crawlies' you get up the back of your neck when the water hits that bit right near your brain. Really unpleasant. You are supposed to hold still while the water works it's way from one sinus passage to the other. Sure. Until the crawlies hit. Then you simultaneously try to rub the back of your neck, stand still, and NOT blow water out your nose. Do yourself a favor and get used to this over the bathtub. It can get messy.
I am pleased to tell you that the crawlies DO go away after a while. Warm water makes it better, too. This kit has everything in it you need: salt, super duper liquid stuff, instructions and pot. Get the kit - it's cheaper than buying the Neti Wash separately, and it does make a difference if you have a cold, or are just particularly snotty the day you use it. The instructions have some helpful Yoga positions you can assume to help blow water out of your nose. If you get really good at it you can make a serious impact on the sink. This is probably unhealthy, so don't do that.
I think Neti pots are a single user deal, like with toothbrushes. It's up to you. If you love your partner so much you'd share all their various personal hygiene devices, I guess sharing a Neti pot isn't an issue. It's not like the thing get's nasty - it's really very clean. But I am NOT sharing mine.
