For those who already own a SkyScout personal planetarium, here's a practical accessory that makes the Celestron SkyScout even easier and more fun to use. With the SkyLine laser pointer mounted on the side of the SkyScout, you and others in your family or group will see exactly where SkyScout is pointed. You won't have to crane your neck back and hold a weary arm over your head as you sight through the SkyScout with your eye glued to the lens. In fact, you won't have to view through the SkyScout at all! Instead, just hold it in any comfortable position and point the side-mounted SkyLine's 3-5 milliwatt green laser beam at the star or object you want to ID. Then hit the target button and read the object's description from SkyScout's LCD panel. Easy!The custom-designed, dual-ring ABS bracket threads with a single screw (included) into the socket on the side of the SkyScout.This accessory will not interfere with the SkyScout's GPS system or pointing accuracy. Summary: Very Disappointing
Comment: I love the SkyScout. It's fun to use, but takes a little practice. It's perfect for curious minds that want to learn the night sky.
BUT the Orion SkyLine Green Laser Pointer and Bracket is very disappointing. It looks "sexy," but the bracket is made out of plastic. (It looks like metal in the picture.) As you screw it into the 1/4 20 hole in the SkyScout, the mount actually starts to warp! To get it reasonably snug, the mount gets distorted to the point that the laser is out of alignment with the mount itself! Very cheap. Also, the collar they supply to hold the laser button switch down is, frankly, dumb and unimaginative. You would be better off just wrapping a rubber band and sliding it on or off the button. Also, the collar they give you screws into the laser pen and actually scratches the finish.
Bottom line: the laser pen is an excellent idea, but don't waste your money on this mount.

Summary: A MUST Have!!
Comment: If you already own a Skyscout you might as well spend a little extra money to widen your experience stargazing. You no longer need to use your finger or tell your friends "no, not that one, the one next to it". The laser points exactly where you should be looking.
The laser takes about 12 minutes out of the box to get sighted to the Skyscout. I love it.
