Customer Rating: Summary: overpriced for what it is Comment: I bought this a few days ago from a Goldbox deal as an impulse buy, despite the nagging feeling that I was overpaying. Judging from the build quality shown in the photos, even with the GB discount (final price $125), this item was overpriced.
I suffer from back problems and have been meaning to purchase a consumer version of the face-down table for several years, like the ones massage therapists and chiropractors have. I didn't do my research on this product and now I regret it. Higher quality lie-down tables can be had for near this price. The construction of this chair is similar to other folding beach chairs, consisting of hollow metal tube legs, and do not look particularly sturdy. One big minus I noticed right out of the box is the use of plastic washers and parts. I don't expect these to stand up to the stress of repeated folding and unfolding. likewise, the teeth/brackets on the underside that control the angling and height of the face rest are also made of plastic, which I don't expect to hold out over time from all the weight being put on them.
The face hole is too small, as many users have said, and the fabric of the cushion is not very soft on the face and overall, the pad is insufficiently thick. Also, when lying face-down, my feet have no comfortable position to go to. They have to stick straight down, or I have to angle them to the side, which are both not very relaxing. A pillow under the shin may help. When lying face-down, there is also no place to rest your arms in an elevated position. You have to let them hang straight down, which for me, is not very comfortable.
I am 5'7" and this product is just enough for me. if you are much taller than this, your feet will hang off the end. All be careful of rolling around if you sleep on this. you'll fall right off. it is only as wide as a normal adult body.
On the positive side, this unit comes almost entirely assembled, except for the face rest panel, which is attached using 2 bolts, washers, and a plastic spacer tube, then an end cap metal nut. Assembly took about 10 minutes with the included bolt tighteners.
I don't think it should be called a Therapeutic lounger. Ergo Lounger also makes a cheaper one (12" height) that is not as tall as this one (18" height). For $60-75, I would be happy with this purchase. For $125, I feel I have overpaid for a glorified folding beach chair with a face hole/fold-away cot, not a bona-fide therapeutic lounger. It should not be advertised as a therapeutic anything.
Points:
-1 for overall value
-1 for build quality vs price ratio.
in retrospect, I should've looked around first, and purchased something like this Master Massage 25-Inch Skyline Sport Size Portable Massage Table
Customer Rating: Summary: face down lounger Comment: I bought this lounger because I have orthostatic intolerance and need to lie down perfectly flat at times. I thought the face hole would be a plus when lying prone.
I am a slender person but while lying face down on this chair, I have trouble finding a place to comfortably fit my arms and totally relax . My husband, who has a larger build and is broad shouldered, can't use the chair at all - face up or face down.
Also, when the chair is flat and I want to lie on my back, I have to put the larger pillow under my head for comfort... but there is a bar located under the shoulder area that the fabric drapes over, so the bar digs into my back. It has some hard foam padding, but that doesn't help. It's very uncomfortable.
After using this chair for almost a month, I would recommend it only to very petite people who like to lie face down, but can't keep their heads turned while doing so. And with the caveat that even then, it's not very comfortable.
Customer Rating: Summary: Review Comment: We rate this product good to fair. Some features are fine such as the reading port and face cushions. The other two cushions are just OK and the velcro is fair relative to "sticking power". The fabric stains a bit and a suggestion would be to offer a lighter color.
Customer Rating: Summary: Versatile Chair Comment: I bought the ergo-therapeutic lounge chair due to a bad back. The pillows can be arranged to better support your back. It's somewhat combersome to carry, it weighs 15lbs which is significat if your walking a distance to the beach. I like the idea of being able to read while lounging, but eye glasses present a problem with the pillow. Its not quite as wide as I would have liked it to be, but it adjusts in quite a few positions. Overall I am happy with the product but I do think that it is way over priced.
Customer Rating: Summary: face whole doesn't fit all Comment: I bought 2 of these and returned one. The face hole was not right for my husband. His glasses hit the side and made it uncomfortable. I think that if they added additional pillow/s for different face shapes it would work better. I am looking forward to trying it out this summer.
