The holes it has at the top and bottom are very convenient for everyday practice. The academy has boards exactly like this one but you can tell they are way older by the color running out because exposure to the sun but they are in perfect shape.

Like other reviewers, I found this kickboard to be a bit on the small side: measurements in the description would have been helpful. Still, they are lightweight, sturdy, and nicely shaped. The handle placement is great. The kickboards store easily and they are reasonably priced. While another inch or two in size would have been nice, I'd still purchase them again. It really helps to teach the proper positioning for a beginner. The handles helped my son get a good tight grip on the board and I felt he was safe. The hand holes make holding it very easy but also take away foatation because water comes through as soon as you add weight. TRICKY! It is better in salt water and I used it to feel more confident when I snorkeled far out from shore, in case I got tierd and I liked it,but NO way should it be counted on to help prevent drowning for a child, just doesn't provide enough float!
