Customer Rating: Summary: Will stop thumb/finger sucking! Comment: I have 3 children who suck their fingers and/or thumb. (Ages 6, 5, and 3). My dentist told me they needed to stop b/c their hard palate was changing b/c of it. This product, thumb sucking weekly sticker chart and weekly treats did it! They have all been 100% successful now for 4 weeks! I am so grateful for this product! Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't work for long Comment: I have two boys, 7 and 2, both thumb-suckers. At first I thought this was a miracle product, until they got used to the taste and just went back to sucking their thumbs. My 7-year-old only sucks his thumb at night, and I tried putting it on after he'd fallen asleep, but he sucked his thumb anyway. My 2-year-old wants to suck his thumb constantly. I will apply it and it works as a deterrent for about an hour, then he just sucks his thumb anyway, so I end up having to reapply it and the cycle begins all over again. I guess I just have very stubborn children, because this stuff tastes so horrible and lingers forever in your mouth! Customer Rating: Summary: A little tough love, But it works. Comment: My son is 2 years old and has been sucking his thumb since he found it as a baby. I really wanted to break this habit and have been trying for a year now. I tried all the things I read about and nothing worked. I did not want to wait any longer with hearing the horror stories of dental problems from friends that had kids that sucked their thumbs. I tried tobasco sauce on the thumbs and it was just a taste that would stop him for a minute and then it would go away and he would have his thumb right back in his mouth. I found an article about Thum and foud that many people said it didn't work and that their children started to like the taste and I thought then it couldn't be any better than the tobasco sauce and then I found this product. I will admit when you first put it on and your child tries to suck his thumb it is hard to see him gag and his mouth water from the taste. But I gave him a drink and let him get the taste out of his mouth and he has tried once more in the week and a half of using this stuff. I put it on once every three days so far and it seems to be working. I really thought I would never break him of this habit, if he was not eating one of his thumbs were almost always in his mouth while the other was playing with his toy or whatever he was doing. It really does work, you just have to be willing to see your child the first time or two gag for a minute when they get that taste in their mouth. I am hoping to only use this about another week and hopefully I won't have to put it on ever again!!!! Customer Rating: Summary: Works.. for a time Comment: This stuff worked great at first. Then my child figured how to peel it off - just like nail polish. After that it was not so effective. If I apply it while the kid is asleep, the effects last longer. Customer Rating: Summary: Works Perfectly!!! Comment: I bought this to help my daughter stop sucking her thumb. We were both hesitant that it wouldn't really work and she would be able to just rub it off or at least wash her hands and it would come off. BUT NO!!! It was wonderful. It stays on through hand washing and she said it tastes terrible. And it must have because she stopped sucking her thumb in 3 days! We continued using it for a week just to be certain. If anyone needs to stop biting their nails or sucking their thumb, buy MAVALA!!!
