Ludovico Einaudi studied piano & composition at the Conservatory in Milan & also with composer Luciano Berio. His early career produced several chamber & orchestral compositions, but he expanded his works in the mid-1980s by creating a series of successful dance & multimedia works. His move to film music in the mid-1990's seemed a logical progression where his innovative & imaginative composing style has had significant impact on his peers, who have bestowed him with 4 major international awards as of this writing. His 21st Century pieces fuse a myriad of styles, including ambient, minimalist and avant-garde, drawn from his admiration of rock groups like Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers, attracting fans from across the popular musical spectrum. Einaudi performed this rich, melodic set of chamber pieces himself, accompanied by Djivan Gasparian and Quartetto David.

Customer Rating: Summary: Touched by the Divine Comment: This man's music is so moving and inspiring, it's hard to find sufficient words of praise. I have all of his CD's now, and can only say that anything by Ludovico Einaudi has my highest recommendation. Don't hesitate; just buy and listen.
Customer Rating: Summary: breathtaking Comment: Having heard three other albums by Einoudi including the best of an Le Onde, I decided to purchase Eden Roc expecting more of the same exceptional masterpeices. But I was pleasantly surprised to hear so much more depth and fervour in this work. With guitar and violins integrated into many of the pieces, it just makes some of the songs so incredibly haunting and emotive. There is a lot more structure to this album in comparrison to Le Onde and more diversity throughout the album, with some pieces going on for a long time with just pipes on their own followed the by the slow intergration of a little bit of piano, and others quite vivacious and light, and others just tear jerking masterpieces. Pretty much all of the songs are breathtaking, unlike le Onde and Una Matina which have rather a lot of songs which tend to drag the albums out a little bit. But by the time you get to the end of Eden Roc your despirate for more. I can gladly say that this is one of my favourite albums of all time, and after owning it for 2 years now I still listen to it reguarly. The great thing about it too is that it isn't just background music, it needs to be listened to and appriciated time and time again. Either way, this album is guaranteed to touch your soul and either make you very depressed or very happy. Buy it now!
