The Coleman Cable 01489 100-foot 125-volt 14-gauge solar extension cord is an all-purpose outdoor extension cord that keeps its flexibility in temperatures as low as -67 degrees Fahrenheit. Because it is 30 percent lighter than similar cords, it's easy to handle than similar cords, and it's also resistant to oils, grease, and chemicals as well as flame, water, sunlight, weather, tears, and punctures. This 125-volt, 13 Amp cord features 14 gauge wire, with three conductors, and is designed for most operating most appliances and power tools. For a safer work site and reliable power, this cord is UL listed and OSHA-approved extension cord.

Summary: Sturdy but not up to the Yellow Labrador Retriever challenge
Comment: Coupled this with an electric mower that's still going strong, but the yellow cord was no match for Yellow Lab puppy who found this (unplugged) "chew toy" in the garage. Still, it took 2 years before the cord began to unravel and separate from the female connector. And, this was with 88-105-degree heat and SC sun UV rays deteriorating the plastic coating.

Comment: I bought this to go with the snow blower I bought on the same day. It didn't snow enough to use the snowblower and power cord for over 30 days after I purchased the set. It appeared very sturdy as it is designed for outdoor use. The FIRST time I used this, the power cord casing split to reveal the inner insulation. It had not caught on anything and it was not near any sharp objects. It split just from lengthening the power cord to give more slack for using the snow blower, somehow, the cord twisted and split. For the price, I would not expect this product to split on the first use. I called the manufacturer (after much searching for the contact information) and they told me that since I bought it through Amazon, I would have to return it through Amazon. Amazon will not give a refund or exchange for the product since it was outside of the 30 days, even though this was the first use. In response to my complaint about this product, I got a form email and a suggestion to go to the manufacturer. I am very disappointed in the product and how poorly Amazon fights for its customers. Think twice before making big purchases on here outside of books and DVD's. I hope Amazon considers adjusting their customer service form emails to at least make it look like the person sending it actually read the original email to them about the situation.

Comment: What can one say about a silly extension cord? Well, it's long enough and hasn't broken. I really didn't shop around, just looked at what other folks who had bought the Toro 1800 electric snowblower and decided to put my full trust on the collective wisdom of cyber-users.
So far, that bet has paid off.
