Customer Rating: Summary: I have used these for 12 Years! Best Headphones ever! Comment: Hi everyone. I am an audiophile and have used the MDR-V600 for 12 years. These headphones allow my ears to enjoy the music on my ipod, spoken word, and TV Shows on iTunes.
The lifespan of these headphones are about 4 years IF you use it everyday of the week...as I do. For casual listeners, this will last your entire lifetime.
SONY, Like NO Other. They mean it for a reason. Try and you'll see. :)

Customer Rating: Summary: Sony headphones Comment: I use this product a lot and am glad for the purchase. I even take it with me on long airplane trips, because I can hear the movies and classical music without outside noises!!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing Comment: Incredible headphones. I'm not an expert on sound like some of the other reviewers, but I love to listen to music. My office can get a bit noisy at times and these headphones do the trick.
After a full 8 hours my ears are a little tired from the headphones sitting on them, but I usually don't wear them all day. The ear covers are soft and made from a very comfortable material. The sound is amazing! I think I can hear more music through these headphones than I do my stereo system at home.
Cable has two adapters to fit most sized jacks. It is long enough to plug into my PC and still give me room to work comfortably and move around from phone to filing cabinet and back to PC with no troubles.
Great buy, I am really impressed with these headphones. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great headphones, even after 5 years of use. Comment: That's right, I've had these headphones for over 5 years. I bought them at Guitar Center when I was first getting into studio recording. I decided to write a review now because I was curious as to how much they are selling for these days (bought mine new for $100).
The dynamics are amazing, especially the bass response. I share a house with roommates so at times I can't listen back to my recordings through my monitors/subwoofer, but these headphones do a great job as a substitute. The sound is sufficient enough to hear all the little nuances during a recording session. They are VERY COMFORTABLE, too. They hug my ears and are virtually weightless.
I also have a pair of Bose around ear headphones that I received as a gift. I thought for the reputation and price the Bose would be a replacement for my Sony's, but I was surprised to hear that the Bose lacked the bass response that the Sony's had. The Bose are great for listening to CD's, Mp3's, etc. but for my hobby they just didn't compare to the MDR's.
After all this time the only problem I've had is simply cosmetic. The material that wraps the surface of the head band (I think it may be a very thin vinyl) has split, probably my own fault. But that doesn't affect the sound or comfortableness one bit.
I will probably buy another pair just to have as a spare. I am very impressed with this product and if I ever open my own professional recording studio I will most likely outfit it with 3-4 pair of these.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not horrible not good just okay Comment: I have owned these headphones for many years now. They are comfortable to wear for about an hour or so, but any longer and my ears start to get uncomfortably hot. They do fold up nicely but they are just too big to be portable in my opinion. The vinyl on the earpads and headband deteriorated and was a little messy but they still work. They are not the best sounding headphones as they produce slightly boomy upper-frequency bass and really lack detail in the midrange but the highs are nice and not too bright. You can get a pair of Sony earbuds for less than half the price that sound much better, provide more isolation, and are a lot lighter. Also, the cord is heavy and tends to make my head lean to the left if it is hanging down in front of me. I still use them occasionally when I don't feel like having earbuds stuck in my ears but there are better choices available for less money.
