It is not enough to just put together a group of talented musicians and start a band, it is also important to promote the Band. Generally, a music band starts small as a college group playing gigs in the local college, or at events. But a day comes when the small gigs and playing at events just does not satisfy the group. To be successful as a band, promoting the band and musicians is important. Would The Beatles and their Rock star musicians have achieved commercial success and critical acclaim without promotion? No way. To be commercially successful and a known name, you should promote your Band as much as possible. Unlike the past, there are many avenues and ways to promote a band.
Today, with the reach of the Internet spreading to all corners of the world, promoting your Band in online communities like MySpace is easier and has a Global reach. These online communities and portals provide great tools and a Band should take advantage of this form of online promotion to reach a global audience. These sites allow artists and bands to register and sign up and receive free web space. Bands can post videos, MP3 files, show dates for gigs, and also post on blogs. This allows Bands to keep fans upto date on what is happening with the band, introducing new songs, and interact with fans and people that is normally not possible.
Another good idea to Promote
Your Band is to setup and maintain a Website for the Band. The website should be an additional promotion method besides the online communities with a link back to your website on the community page. You can setup the website your self if you know how or hire a professional company to design, develop, and host the website. The first step though is to search for and register a domain for your website. Generally, you will be able to register a Domain with your bands name, but if not, you can try to register a variation. A website is an excellent way to Promote Your Band.
Promoting a band requires serious efforts and treating it like a business and not a hobby. This requires business cards for band members, with contact information and website URL. Wherever band members visit, including the local record store, the business cards should be distributed liberally. Pass the cards to casual acquaintances, at restaurants, at events, and do whatever it takes to Promote Your Band. Another good idea is to create and distribute a business card CD, which is a wallet sized CD. This can contain all your contact information, songs, music, videos of gigs, etc. The ultimate goal is to achieve success for your band.
